PhasorPoint launched by Smart Grid applications leader Psymetrix

Psymetrix’s phasor measurement based versions of its flagship product StormMinder will from today (10 June 2008) be known as PhasorPoint, reflecting significant enhancements and underlining the company’s rapid growth in both breadth and depth of Wide-Area Monitoring System (WAMS) and control solutions for the Smart Grid.

PhasorPoint encompasses more than a decade of experience working with transmission and generation companies across the globe providing power system dynamics measurement and analysis. Power system operators and planners use Psymetrix’s solutions to assist them in avoiding blackouts and to increase the capability of their plant and electricity networks. The PhasorPoint solutions architecture provides an increased range of flexible and fully scalable building blocks for real-time wide-area monitoring and control, including new phasor data concentrators (PDCs) and enhancements to applications including the industry-leading Psymetrix oscillation and damping monitoring.

Developed in response to increasing demand for applications that can leverage the advantages of Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) data and as a direct result of Psymetrix’s problem-solving expertise in the area of power system dynamics, PhasorPoint is installed in a growing number of leading transmission companies.
