Stabiliser Tuning Services
Optimally tuned stabiliser devices such as Power System Stabilisers (PSS) or other Power Oscillation Dampers (POD) are required in many systems. These controllers ensure that there is sufficient damping of power system oscillations, both at point of connection, and across the entire network.

Programme Management
Psymetrix is able to implement and manage an entire programme of PSS setting and commissioning, deploying highly qualified power systems engineers with experience of substantive on-site testing of both generator and power system dynamic performance on a number of major power systems. Psymetrix Stabiliser Turning programmes are individually tailored to each customer's particular needs, whether that be advising on actions to be taken, assisting in the analysis of results, or operating the program and physical testing on their behalf.
Settings Determination
As part of such programmes, Psymetrix will work alongside utility staff or independently to derive optimum settings to be applied. Psymetrix will also work with manufacturers and in some cases independently to modify and/or adjust stabiliser characteristics to match the settings derived.
Implementation
When implementing stabiliser tuning programmes, Psymetrix usually recommends spending one or two days with the customer to design an optimal programme which is entirely tailored to individual utility requirements and importantly, available skills. Psymetrix implementation consultants have extensive experience in designing such programmes.
Training
Psymetrix is able to provide Stabiliser Tuning services as part of an overall package to ensure optimum use of its PhasorPoint technologies. The prime objective of the programme is then to transfer skills to the customer, with both formal and on-the-job training provided for the customer's staff.
Tuning of Excitation Systems
Often, as a starting point to Stabiliser Tuning, examining and tuning the performance of existing excitation is a pre-requisite, particularly if documentation is weak or there has been a long period since performance was checked.
As part of its overall Stabiliser Tuning services, Psymetrix can also provide tuning of excitation systems. This can include undertaking a structured process of excitation systems measurements and tuning to ensure a known, consistent and optimum platform is available for Stabiliser Tuning or to optimise existing excitation system response.
